Universal Wildfire Tools & Tactics

The Finest Wildfire Tools in the World

About the Individual Tool Components
Universal Handle

UNIVERSAL HANDLE. . . $139 . . . This is a specially engineered wooden handle, approximately twice the strength of a traditional Pulaski handle, and it's longer. It has a hardened aluminum male fitting that snaps onto various tool head options. Each fire fighter now enjoys a range of versatility never before possible. The handle has a special cone collar that transfers stress to a wide oval mass of wood for great strength. The size and shape of the handle then distributes stress throughout the entire handle, rather than simply at the place where the metal meets the wood, as with traditional handles. This is a lot more durable. There is a stainless steel, spring-loaded latching pin held in place by a stainless allen screw. The latching pin locks the handle to the various tool heads.

Troop Tool Firefighter using Troop Tool

TROOP TOOL. . . $139 . . . This is the primary universal fire tool for the temperate forests, either in the Western conifer forests or the Eastern hardwood deciduous forests. This tool is a multi-angled shovel. It is an improved entrenching tool. There is a large spring-loaded locking bolt that secures the shovel in its chosen position. This one tool serves a multitude of missions, which are:

  1. A safety staff to help the X-country traveler negotiate steep, unstable terrain and eliminate falls.
  2. An angled shovel to dig and accurately throw dirt at flare-ups or cool down burning snags.
  3. A better McLeod or scraping tool for Western forests with a curved blade to slice through litter.
  4. A better fire rake or Eastern Council tool with a high back to clear a swath through leaves.
  5. A stand erect mixing, chinking and mop-up tool with shovel point hitting ground first.
  6. A quick release from the universal handle, and the fire fighter can snap-lock on a secondary cutting or beating tool attachment.
